Online technologies have changed the shape of teaching and learning. Recently, millions of educators were abruptly forced to move courses online where they scrambled to solve the unique challenges of distance learning.

Teaching online demands new approaches to facilitate learning and this course is an introduction to those approaches.

James Hatten, Ph.D., University of South Florida

James Hatten is a full-time instructor in the Instructional Technology program at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Hatten teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on Distance Learning, Online Teaching and Learning, eLearning Design & Development, Introduction to Technology for Educators, Digital Identity, Interactive Media, Digital Video, Web Design, and Technology for Leading and Learning.

Prior to joining USF's College of Education, Dr. Hatten worked as a researcher and instructional designer for the National Center on Educational Outcomes and as a high school English/Language Arts teacher.
